Financing & Investments in the Circular Economy
27 APRIL 11.00-12.00 | POLICY ROUNDTABLE
Financing and investments play a major role in the transition to circular economy. Today the global economy is only 7.2% circular – or with other words we waste more than 90% of our resources and materials after using them. Knowing that the extraction and processing of materials make up about half of total global emissions, we need to change our TAKE – MAKE – WASTE approach – and that calls for new inventions, solutions and technologies for companies to be able to transform their linear business models.
We cannot accelerate this transition without money.
Gradually, companies are seeing circular economy as a way of delivering long term growth to investors while helping address climate change and other global challenges.
Therefore we are connecting actors across the finance and investment sector to discuss their role in the circular economy – challenges and opportunities.
Some of the questions in the panel debate:
• What does the sector need to be able to allocate more financing and investments to companies with circular solutions?
• Economically, what makes in today’s world most sense? – companies with a TAKE, MAKE WASTE approach or companies with a circular approach?
• What is needed – from law makers, companies, investors, consumers – to make circular business models the most attractive and clear choice for everybody?
